Berlin Marathon Runner Update: Shaun McEntee

May 31, 2022

The 2022 Berlin Marathon takes place on 24th September, and 6 of our amazing supporters will be taking part whilst raising vital funds to support our work! We recently caught up with Shaun McEntee to see how he’s getting on.

How is your training going?

Training is going really well, I recently completed the Manchester Marathon with a personal best of 2hrs 43m 50sec, so will be aiming to bring this down further in Berlin to hopefully get 2hrs 40min!

I am now also doing the London Marathon the weekend after Berlin, and will be raising money for Isle Listen for this as well.

In the coming months I’ll be competing in some local events to maintain race sharpness and form, most recently I competed in the IOM Easter festival and achieved personal bests in both 5K and 10K races.

Have you got any fundraising activities on the go?

Fundraising is going well so far! I’ve raised roughly £600 with just a soft launch and have future events planned such as cakes sale and bag packing at Robinson’s (where I work). I will also be approaching our suppliers for sponsorship for these events, so I’m really hopeful the funds should rise as we get closer to the marathons.

What are you most looking forward to about taking part in the Berlin Marathon?

I’m looking forward to Berlin to try and beat my PB, in what is recognised as the world’s best marathon course, and hopefully trying to enjoy the sites on my way around!
