Supporting IFGL to improve employee wellbeing

October 21, 2021  |  by Isle Listen

In 2018 IFGL decided to equip its 100 Line Managers, across three sites, with the knowledge and skills with how to effectively support our workforce where early signs of mental health issues might occur. To date, 99% of our managers have now taken part in Isle Listen’s vital mental health and wellbeing training.

Workplace mental health awareness training is a key part of our wish to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and empowering employers and their workforce to feel effectively supported with their wellbeing.

With the support of Isle Listen, their Mental Health Awareness for Line Managers training courses, have had a significant impact on our business, where there is now a clear awareness of what mental ill-health looks like and how important it is to ‘check in’ with people.

Based upon our learnings from the courses, we’ve implemented several initiatives across the business; providing signposting links on our staff intranet to Isle Listen resources such as videos which offer support and advice on maintaining a healthy mind and promoting a healthy, positive lifestyle. Our Wellbeing Committee has introduced regular wellbeing events throughout the year to upskill our staff on mental health issues and promote the private health benefits we offer, and we have linked IFGL’s Values to wellbeing.

Isle Listen’s training has developed the skills for our line managers to listen, question and effectively assess in a non-judgmental way, matters involving mental health in the workplace.

They can now look at adjustments that can be made that will support their staff member’s wellbeing, along with signposting a variety of resources and tools accessible by all.

We are extremely proud to support the vital work that Isle Listen does in schools, the workplace and wider community, and we are committed to continuing to educate our staff about the importance of mental health and wellbeing by working in partnership with the Isle Listen charitable initiative. Isle Listen provides a valuable service to our community and deserves as much support as possible.
